Welcome to National Bento Days, today we are Celebrating National Weary Willie Day
Being, National Weary Willie Day I knew this lunch needed to be colorful, fun and somehow represent clowns.
What a perfect time to incorporate a car shaped egg - beep, beep. It's a small car!
and Orange Wedges impart a colorful bright orange rind to the bento.
Then the clown. Using my round cutter I cut out sandwich rounds stuffed them with peanut butter and jelly and added a face utilizing frosting, candy and cotton candy. This guy is ready to party!
Today's school lunch will likely make the girls reminisce about the last time they saw a clown.
The last fond recollection I have is from the farmers market. It was a Thursday night farmer's market, the air was exceptionally warm and the day had been long. When we happened upon a clown, standing on the corner curb. He was making balloon shapes for a group of happy children.
It's a found memory, watching the joy and astonishment on their little faces as they were handed wands, dogs and swords. I hope you have a few fond memories of your own.
